The citizens of Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, have been on high alert for the past month. Forty days ago, a trio of capybaras made a daring escape from the local zoo. While two have been recaptured, one mastermind, Doubao, remains at large.
It’s the plants that are trembling the most—capybaras can devour up to 8 pounds of grass daily!

5月11日上午，江苏扬州市茱萸湾风景区管理处官微发布一则悬赏公告，称茱萸湾动物园的卡皮巴拉“豆包”于4月3日出逃，至今已达40天。
公告称，嫌疑犯“豆包”于4月3日凌晨，伙同家庭成员集体越狱，“霸总”和“躲躲”已“依法逮捕归案”。目前“豆包”仍在逃。经查，“豆包”身上无危险武器，亦无攻击性，敬请广大市民和游客放心。但越狱犯罪性质恶劣，须依法严惩，以震慑其他蓄意逃笼的毛孩子。茱萸湾动物园特别悬赏：凡提供“豆包”出逃有效信息者均可获赠茱萸湾门票一张。

On the morning of May 11, the official social media account of the Zhuyuwan Scenic Area Management Office in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, issued a reward notice stating that the capybara "Doubao" from the Zhuyuwan Zoo escaped on April 3 and has been missing for 40 days.
The announcement revealed that the suspect "Doubao" staged a collective jailbreak with family members in the early hours of April 3. "Bazong" and "Duoduo" have already been "arrested and brought back according to the law," but "Doubao" remains at large. It was clarified that "Doubao" does not carry dangerous weapons and is non-aggressive, reassuring the public and visitors. However, the escape is deemed a serious offense, necessitating legal punishment to deter other "furry inmates" from planning future breakouts. The Zhuyuwan Zoo has offered a special reward: anyone providing valid information about Doubao's whereabouts will receive a ticket to the scenic area.

According to publicly available information, capybaras, also known as 水豚 (shuǐ tún) in Chinese, derive their name from the phonetic transliteration of the English term "capybara." Their cute appearance and gentle temperament have gained them increasing popularity among tourists in recent years.
Media reports earlier revealed that in the early hours of April 3, three capybaras collectively escaped from their "apartment." Surveillance footage showed that "Bazong" was the ringleader of this "jailbreak." Around 3 a.m., the usually docile "Bazong" used its "iron head" technique to break the wooden window of their apartment and led "Duoduo" and "Doubao" to freedom. As of now, only "Doubao" remains "wandering" outside. However, caretakers have discovered its droppings in nearby villages, indicating that it is still active in the area.
