迄今为止 - Expressing "so far"

HSK 6 requires you to learn many formal expressions. 迄今为止 (qìjīn wéizhǐ) is one of them. It means “up until now” or “so far.” In daily conversation, people might instead use 到现在 (dào xiànzài) or 到目前为止 (dào mùqián wéi zhǐ), which sound a bit more casual.
Breaking it down:
迄今 (qì jīn) = up to now
为止 (wéi zhǐ) = until (something stops)

迄今为止，一切进展顺利。So far, everything is going smoothly.
这项研究迄今为止已经进行了三年。This research has been going on for three years so far.
迄今为止，我们的项目进展顺利，但还有许多工作要做。Up to now, our project has been progressing smoothly, but there is still a lot of work to do.
